Toyota of Orlando has just gave away a brand-new Toyota Sienna to Farmworker Association of Florida (FWAF) on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at 3 pm as part of the Toyota 100 Cars for Good program. The FWAF is a non-profit organization that helps farmworkers and low-income individuals with workers’ rights and social concerns.

This organization intends to use this new vehicle as transportation for their clients, driving them to medical, educational and employment-related appointments; meetings with local government agencies; as well as to meetings and conferences of FAWF and other allied groups throughout the state.

The Toyota 100 Cars for Good program, in which Toyota of Orlando has been an active participant, has already awarded 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 deserving non-profit organizations nationwide based on votes from the public. This program was launched as a Facebook-enabled initiative which engaged supporters of these charities through its Facebook application. Each day for 100 days, five organizations were profiled on the Facebook page and the one with the most votes at the end of the day was awarded a car. The 400 runners-up each received $1,000.


The FWAF was the winner of Day 6, which corresponds to May 14th and Toyota of Orlando, as one of the most prestigious Toyota dealers in FL, gave away the Toyota Sienna, honoring the great purpose that this Toyota program was intended for: Give away a Toyota to non-profit organizations that can use it for the greater good.

The Farmworker Association of Florida has been building leaders and empowering farmworkers to be catalysts of positive change for their families and communities.The association combines community organizing and social service projects to reach farmworkers and low-income communities throughout 15 counties in Central and South Florida.

Tirso Moreno, FWAF general coordinator, couldn’t hide his gratitude. “We are incredibly grateful to Toyota and all those supporters who voted for us on Facebook. This donation was so unexpected that we are still in shock,” he said. Moreno also thanked Toyota for this amazing giveaway.

Toyota of Orlando will soon move from West Colonial Drive to the Mall at Millenia area in spring 2012. This will contribute to the neighborhood workforce, creating approximately 100 new jobs.
